Maryam RangAmiz

Maryam Rangamiz discovered her immense love for painting since childhood, and for the first time in 1986, she began learning this art form in free painting classes. Despite having a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, she started teaching painting at schools in 1998 and later at private art institutions.

She then pursued a Master's degree in Painting and is currently the director of the Rang No Visual Arts Academy. Maryam Rangamiz is an honorary member of the Visual Arts Development Institute of Iran, and she has also obtained full membership of the Iranian Painters' Association.

Artistic Vision

I am a woman, a woman who loves life with all its hardships in a point of time and place that encompasses today’s Iran. I know what pain is! The pain that stems from this very point of time and place. Perhaps it is for this reason, and to find answers to the philosophical questions that have preoccupied my mind since childhood, that I read the myths and intertwined them with the very fabric of my being. Then, I delved into history and symbolized those ancient times in my paintings. The woman is a fundamental and constant figure in my works, just as she has been written and depicted throughout history, intertwined with those very myths. In my paintings, the woman emerges from behind the veil and takes form upon it. To grow, she needs to unite with the manifestations of nature and the symbols of plants and animals. She, as a contemporary woman who is also Iranian, is sometimes joyful, sometimes sorrowful, sometimes questioning, and sometimes future-oriented.
